Progress Report

Today, as a group, we were discussing the radio advert which is one of two of our ancillary tasks. We were discussing the script for the radio advert and also how we would like the structure of it to be in order for it to be suitable for our audience. We starting writing a draft script to give ourselves a general idea of what we would like the advert to include. During this, we came across a complication of what the title of our documentary would be as this is a key feature of a radio advert. We created a mind map of key words that relate our documentary and its topic as we thought that this would help us come up with a simple yet effective title. We also looked at existing documentaries that had a similar style of topic in order to gain some inspiration for a title. Finally, we came to a decision for the title to be 'The Secrets of Homosexuality' as we believe that it presented that the documentary identifies the 'taboo' subjects of homosexuals, and we are promoting the modern day issues that they face. After we created the title, we continued with the writing of the script and decided that we would make the radio advert have a slight 'depressing' feel to it in order to attract the attention of the audience and make the audience sympathise with the homosexuals in the documentary.

Below is a draft version of the radio script. We still need to consider different elements of the radio advert such as the editing and the sound to go in the background.

Radio Script
Start with statements with homosexuality without saying the topic in question.

·         I don’t believe that it is the correct way in society
·         I believe that everyone should have equal rights
·         It goes against religion and there for is blasphemy
·         At the end of the day, every human has the right to live how they want regardless of their sexuality
There are many different opinions of homosexuality in today’s society. Channel 4 investigates how homosexuals are treated and tackle the issues that they are faced with in day to day life.

Continue on with statements.

·         School life was very hard when I was growing up
·         I still receive abuse in my work
·         It was difficult telling my family who I am
·         I feel separated from society

Join us tonight at 7pm on channel 4 as we uncover The Secrets of Homosexuality.
